ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥
Bhairao, Third Mehl:
ਕਲਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਇਸ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ-ਭਰੇ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖ ।
In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, enshrine the Lord's Name within your heart.
ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਮਾਥੈ ਪਾਵੈ ਛਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
(ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ (ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਦੀ) ਨਿਰਾਦਰੀ ਹੀ ਖੱਟਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Without the Name, ashes will be blown in your face. ||1||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੁਲਭੁ ਹੈ ਭਾਈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਹੋਰ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਤੇ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਬੜੀ ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord's Name is so difficult to obtain, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(ਇਹ ਤਾਂ) ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਕਿਸੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ) ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਆ ਕੇ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
By Guru's Grace, it comes to dwell in the mind. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਭਾਲਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਕਿਸੇ ਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ) ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸੋਂ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਭਾਗਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ (ਲਿਖੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ),
That humble being who seeks the Lord's Name,
ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ ।੨।
receives it from the Perfect Guru. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਹਿ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ (ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ) ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ (ਦੀ ਪਰਾਪਤੀ) ਦਾ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ (ਮਿਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ)
Those humble beings who accept the Will of the Lord, are approved and accepted.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਨਾਮ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਨੂੰ (ਮਿੱਠਾ ਕਰਕੇ) ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ) ਸਤਕਾਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੩।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they bear the insignia of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਸੋ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਜੋ ਕਲ ਰਹਿਆ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਸ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਦੀ ਮਰਯਾਦਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੱਤਿਆ ਨਾਲ ਤੋਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ
So serve the One, whose power supports the Universe.
ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਿ ॥੪॥੯॥
ਉਸ ਦੀ ਸੇਵਾ-ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰੋ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਪਿਆਰ ਕਰੋ ।੪।੯।
O Nanak, the Gurmukh loves the Naam. ||4||9||
