ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ਇਕ ਤੁਕੇ ॥

ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਕਿਰਮ ਜੰਤੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਤੁੱਛ ਜੀਵ ਹਾਂ,
I am just a worm, created by You, O Lord.
ਦੇਹਿ ਤ ਜਾਪੀ ਆਦਿ ਮੰਤੁ ॥੧॥
ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਪ ਹੀ ਦੇਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ-ਮੰਤ੍ਰ ਜਪ ਸਕਦਾ ਹਾਂ ।੧।
If you bless me, then I chant Your Primal Mantra. ||1||
ਗੁਣ ਆਖਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਮਾਂ! (ਮੇਰੀ ਤਾਂਘ ਇਹ ਹੈ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਾਰ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਾਂ,
I chant and reflect on His Glorious Virtues, O my mother.
ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਲਗਉ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਜਪ ਜਪ ਕੇ ਹਰੀ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੁੜਿਆ ਰਹਾਂ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Meditating on the Lord, I fall at the Lord's Feet. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਲਾਗੇ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਆਦਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ (ਹੀ) ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਰਸ ਵਿਚ ਲੱਗ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ ।
By Guru's Grace, I am addicted to the favor of the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਕਾਹੇ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵਹੁ ਵੈਰਿ ਵਾਦਿ ॥੨॥
ਵੈਰ ਵਿਚ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਵਿਚ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਗਵਾ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ? (ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਪਵੋ) ।੨।
Why waste your life in hatred, vengeance and conflict? ||2||
ਗੁਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕੀਨ੍ਹੀ ਚੂਕਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਮੁੱਕ ਗਿਆ ।
When the Guru granted His Grace, my egotism was eradicated,
ਸਹਜ ਭਾਇ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕ ਕੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ।੩।
and then, I obtained the Lord's Name with intuitive ease. ||3||
ਊਤਮੁ ਊਚਾ ਸਬਦ ਕਾਮੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੰਮ (ਹੋਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੰਮਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ) ਸੇ੍ਰਸ਼ਟ ਹੈ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੈ,
The most lofty and exalted occupation is to contemplate the Word of the Shabad.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੈ ਸਾਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੩॥
(ਤਾਹੀਏਂ) ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਉਚਾਰਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੧੩।
