ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੇ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਲੋਗੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਭਗਤ ਹੈ,
One who serves the Lord is the Lord's person.
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਹਜੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੋਗੁ ॥
ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਕੋਈ ਗ਼ਮ ਪੋਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ ।
He dwells in intuitive peace, and never suffers in sorrow.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਨਾਹੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ਪਰ, ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜੀ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ (ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ।
The self-willed manmukhs are dead; the Lord is not within their minds.
ਮਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਭੀ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜ ਸਹੇੜ ਕੇ ਜਨਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਤੇ ਮੁੜ ਮੁੜ ਆਤਮਕ ਮੌਤ ਸਹੇੜਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
They die and die again and again, and are reincarnated, only to die once more. ||1||
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਜੀਵੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ,
They alone are alive, whose minds are filled with the Lord.
ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲਹਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾਈ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
They contemplate the True Lord, and are absorbed in the True Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਿਮਰਦੇ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who do not serve the Lord are far away from the Lord.
ਦਿਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵਹਿ ਸਿਰਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਧੂਰਿ ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੋਰ ਹੋਰ ਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਭੌਂਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਵਿਚ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ (ਖ਼ੁਆਰ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ) ।
They wander in foreign lands, with dust thrown on their heads.
ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਲਾਇ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਆਪਣੇ ਭਗਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਆਪ ਹੀ (ਆਪਣੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਜੋੜੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਤਮਕ ਆਨੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The Lord Himself enjoins His humble servants to serve Him.
ਤਿਨ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਇ ॥੨॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਦੇ ਰਤਾ ਭਰ ਭੀ (ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ) ਲਾਲਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਆਪਦਾ ।੨।
They live in peace forever, and have no greed at all. ||2||
ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਚੂਕੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਮਿਹਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
When the Lord bestows His Glance of Grace, egotism is eradicated.
ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਹਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਆਦਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Then, the mortal is honored in the Court of the True Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਵੇਖੈ ਸਦ ਹਜੂਰਿ ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਵੇਖਦਾ ਹੈ,
He sees the Dear Lord always close at hand, ever-present.
ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੩॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਰ ਥਾਂ ਵੱਸਦਾ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, he sees the Lord pervading and permeating all. ||3||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਕੀ ਕਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਸਦਾ ਯਾਦ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ
The Lord cherishes all beings and creatures.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲ ॥
ਜੋ ਸਾਰੇ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ
By Guru's Grace, contemplate Him forever.
ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਪਤਿ ਸਿਉ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਇ ॥
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਦਰ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿਚ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
You shall go to your true home in the Lord's Court with honor.
ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਡਾਈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤਿ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ) ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਪਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੪।੩।
O Nanak, through the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall be blessed with glorious greatness. ||4||3||
