ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
One Universal Creator God. Truth Is The Name. Creative Being Personified. No Fear. No Hatred. Image Of The Undying. Beyond Birth. Self-Existent. By Guru's Grace:
ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਮਿਲਿ ਹਰਿਆ ॥
:— ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ
Meeting with the Holy people, my mind blossoms forth.
ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
। ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ । (ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those Holy beings; joining the Sangat, the Congregation, I am carried across to the other side. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੀ ਹਮ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਪਗ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਮੇਰੇ ਉਤੇ) ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਮੈਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਾਂ
O Lord, Har, Har, please bless me with Your Mercy, God, that I may fall at the feet of the Holy.
ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸਾਧ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਸ਼ਾਬਾਸ਼ ਹੈ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਨਾਲ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸਾਂਝ ਪਾਈ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ । ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।੧।
Blessed, blessed are the Holy, who know the Lord God. Meeting with the Holy, even sinners are saved. ||1||
ਮਨੂਆ ਚਲੈ ਚਲੈ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦਾ) ਮਨ (ਆਮ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਕਈ ਤਰੀਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਹੈ,
The mind roams and rambles all around in all directions. Meeting with the Holy, it is overpowered and brought under control,
ਜਿਉਂ ਜਲ ਤੰਤੁ ਪਸਾਰਿਓ ਬਧਕਿ ਗ੍ਰਸਿ ਮੀਨਾ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥੨॥
ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਇਉਂ) ਵੱਸ ਵਿਚ ਕਰ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਜਾਲ ਖਿਲਾਰਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਮੱਛੀ ਨੂੰ (ਕੁੰਡੇ ਵਿਚ) ਫਸਾ ਕੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ।੨।
just as when the fisherman spreads his net over the water, he catches and overpowers the fish. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਸੰਤ ਭਲ ਨੀਕੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਲੁ ਲਹੀਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੰਤ ਜਨ ਭਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ (ਮਨ ਦੀ ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।
The Saints, the Saints of the Lord, are noble and good. Meeting with the humble Saints, filth is washed away.
ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਰਤੁ ਗਇਆ ਸਭੁ ਨੀਕਰਿ ਜਿਉ ਸਾਬੁਨਿ ਕਾਪਰੁ ਕਰਿਆ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਾਬਣ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਪੜਾ (ਸਾਫ਼) ਕਰ ਲਈਦਾ ਹੈ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ) ਹਉਮੈ ਦਾ ਵਿਕਾਰ ਸਾਰਾ ਨਿਕਲ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।
All the sins and egotism are washed away, like soap washing dirty clothes. ||3||
ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਲਾਟਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਉਰ ਧਰਿਆ ॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਜਿਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ-ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੇ ਧੁਰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਤੋਂ (ਗੁਰੂ-ਮਿਲਾਪ ਦਾ ਲੇਖ) ਲਿਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ
According to that pre-ordained destiny inscribed on my forehead by my Lord and Master, I have enshrined the Feet of the Guru, the True Guru, within my heart.
ਸਭੁ ਦਾਲਦੁ ਦੂਖ ਭੰਜ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥
ਉਸ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਵਸਾ ਲਏ । ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਲੱਭ ਲਿਆ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਾਰੀ ਗ਼ਰੀਬੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ । ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ (ਜੁੜ ਕੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ-ਸਮੁੰਦਰ ਤੋਂ) ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਿਆ ।੪।੧।
I have found God, the Destroyer of all poverty and pain; servant Nanak is saved through the Naam. ||4||1||
