ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਇਆ ॥

ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਦੀ ਲਟਕ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਪਾਸੇ ਨੇ ਭਰਮਾ ਲਿਆ ਹੰੁਦਾ ਹੈ,

The self-willed manmukh wanders in duality, lured and enticed by duality.

ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਕਮਾਵਦੇ ਕੂੜੋ ਆਲਾਇਆ ॥

ਉਹ ਝੂਠ ਤੇ ਠੱਗੀ ਕਮਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਝੂਠ ਹੀ (ਮੂੰਹੋਂ) ਬੋਲਦੇ ਹਨ;

He practices falsehood and deception, telling lies.

ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਕਲਤ੍ਰੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਹੇਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥

(ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ-ਪਿਆਰ (ਵੱਸਦਾ ਹੈ) (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ (ਵੱਸਦੀ) ਹੈ (ਤੇ ਇਹ ਰਸਤਾ) ਨਿਰੋਲ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ (ਮੂਲ) ਹੈ;

Love and attachment to children and spouse is total misery and pain.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਭਰਮਾਇਆ ॥

(ਰੱਬ ਵਲੋਂ) ਭਰਮ ਵਿਚ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ (ਮਨਮੁਖ) ਠੇਡੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, (ਮਾਨੋ) ਜਮ ਦੇ ਬੂਹੇ ਤੇ ਬੱਧੇ ਹੋਏ ਕੁੱਟ ਖਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ।

He is gagged and bound at the door of the Messenger of Death; he dies, and wanders lost in reincarnation.

ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਮਨ ਦੇ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਮਨੁੱਖ (ਆਪਣੀ) ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਅਜਾਈਂ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨੂੰ ਏਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਭਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।੩।

The self-willed manmukh wastes his life; Nanak loves the Lord. ||3||
