ਭੈਰਉ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਬਿਘਨੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ (ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਵਿਚ ਕਾਮਾਦਿਕ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਂਦੀ ।
Repeating the Naam, the Name of the Lord, no obstacles block the way.
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਤ ਜਮੁ ਦੂਰਹੁ ਭਾਗੈ ॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸੁਣਦਿਆਂ (ਜੀਵਨ ਇਤਨਾ ਉੱਚਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਾਸੋਂ) ਜਮਰਾਜ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਪਰੇ ਹਟ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Listening to the Naam, the Messenger of Death runs far away.
ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਤ ਸਭ ਦੂਖਹ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਿਆਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ,
Repeating the Naam, all pains vanish.
ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੧॥
ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਮਨ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ।੧।
Chanting the Naam, the Lord's Lotus Feet dwell within. ||1||
ਨਿਰਬਿਘਨ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਬੜੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ, ਸਦਾ ਹਰੀ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਰ ।
Meditating, vibrating the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is unobstructed devotional worship.
ਰਸਕਿ ਰਸਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ਇਹ ਭਗਤੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿਚ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਕੋਈ ਰੁਕਾਵਟ ਨਹੀਂ ਪੈਣ ਦੇਂਦੀ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord with loving affection and energy. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਿਛੁ ਚਾਖੁ ਨ ਜੋਹੈ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜੀ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੱਗਦੀ,
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, the Eye of Death cannot see you.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਦੈਤ ਦੇਉ ਨ ਪੋਹੈ ॥
ਕੋਈ ਦੈਂਤ ਕੋਈ ਦੇਉ ਆਪਣਾ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾ ਸਕਦਾ,
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, demons and ghosts shall not touch you.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਮੋਹੁ ਮਾਨੁ ਨ ਬਧੈ ॥
ਮਾਇਆ ਦਾ ਮੋਹ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਦਾ ਕੋਈ ਮਾਣ ਆਤਮਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਚਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ,
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, attachment and pride shall not bind you.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਰੁਧੈ ॥੨॥
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਿਮਰਦਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੂਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਗੇੜ ਵਿਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਫਸਦਾ ।੨।
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall not be consigned to the womb of reincarnation. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਸਗਲੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! (ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਸਮਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਿਚ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਿਆ ਜਾਏ ਉਹੀ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਮਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਢੁਕਵਾਂ ਹੈ,
Any time is a good time to meditate in remembrance on the Lord.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਬਹੁ ਮਾਹਿ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥
ਪਰ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ।
Among the masses, only a few meditate in remembrance on the Lord.
ਜਾਤਿ ਅਜਾਤਿ ਜਪੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
ਉੱਚੀ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਚਾਹੇ ਨੀਵੀਂ ਜਾਤਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
Social class or no social class, anyone may meditate on the Lord.
ਜੋ ਜਾਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਭੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨਾਮ ਜਪਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਆਤਮਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੩।
Whoever meditates on Him is emancipated. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੀਐ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਭਾਈ! ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚ (ਰਹਿ ਕੇ) ਜਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ,
Chant the Name of the Lord in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.
ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
(ਸਾਧ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਰੰਗ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਉਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੈ) ।
Perfect is the Love of the Lord's Name.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ! (ਆਪਣੇ ਦਾਸ) ਨਾਨਕ ਉਤੇ ਮਿਹਰ ਕਰ, ਹੇ ਹਰੀ! (ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਦਾਤਿ) ਦੇਹ
O God, shower Your Mercy on Nanak,
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੯॥
(ਤਾ ਕਿ) ਮੈਂ (ਆਪਣੇ) ਹਰੇਕ ਸਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ (ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮ) ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਰਹਾਂ ।੪।੩੬।੪੯।
that he may think of you with each and every breath. ||4||36||49||
