ਮਃ ੧ ॥

First Mehl:

ਜੇ ਦੇਹੈ ਦੁਖੁ ਲਾਈਐ ਪਾਪ ਗਰਹ ਦੁਇ ਰਾਹੁ ॥

ਜੇ (ਮੇਰੇ) ਸਰੀਰ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਲੱਗ ਜਾਏ, ਦੋਵੇਂ ਮਨਹੂਸ ਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਹੂ ਤੇ ਕੇਤੂ (ਮੇਰੇ ਲਾਗੂ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ),

If my body were afflicted with pain, under the evil influence of unlucky stars;

ਰਤੁ ਪੀਣੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਿਰੈ ਉਪਰਿ ਰਖੀਅਹਿ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਪੈ ਭਾਉ ॥

ਜ਼ਾਲਮ ਰਾਜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਤੇ ਹੋਣ, ਜੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ (ਭਾਵ, ਇਹਨਾਂ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਕਲ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ) ਪਰਗਟ ਹੋਵੇ,

and if the blood-sucking kings were to hold power over me

ਭੀ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਸਾਲਾਹਣਾ ਆਖਣ ਲਹੈ ਨ ਚਾਉ ॥੩॥

ਤਾਂ ਭੀ (ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ! ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਘਾਬਰ ਕੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਵਿਸਾਰ ਨਾ ਦਿਆਂ) ਤੇਰੀ ਹੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤਿ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਾਂ, ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਾਉ ਨਾਹ ਮੁੱਕ ਜਾਏ ।੩।

-even if this were my condition, I would still worship and adore You, and my longing to chant Your Praises would not decrease. ||3||
