ਤੀਨਿ ਛੰਦੇ ਖੇਲੁ ਆਛੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
(ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਰਚਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਇਹ ਜਗਤ) ਤ੍ਰਿ-ਗੁਣੀ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਦਾ ਤਮਾਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ ।੧।ਰਹਾਉ।
Here is a verse with a three-fold play on words. ||1||Pause||
ਕੁੰਭਾਰ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਹਾਂਡੀ ਆਛੈ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਸਾਂਡੀ ਗੋ ॥
(ਸਾਧਾਰਨ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ) ਘੁਮਿਆਰ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਹਾਂਡੀ (ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ) ਹੈ, ਰਾਜੇ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਸਾਂਢੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਹੀ) ਹੈ;
In the potter's home there are pots, and in the king's home there are camels.
ਬਾਮਨ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਰਾਂਡੀ ਆਛੈ ਰਾਂਡੀ ਸਾਂਡੀ ਹਾਂਡੀ ਗੋ ॥੧॥
ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਸਗਨ ਮਹੂਰਤ ਆਦਿਕ ਵਿਚਾਰਨ ਲਈ) ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ (ਆਦਿਕ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ) ਹੈ । (ਇਹਨਾਂ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ) ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ, ਸਾਂਢਨੀ, ਭਾਂਡੇ (ਹਾਂਡੀ) ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹਨ) ।੧।
In the Brahmin's home there are widows. So here they are: haandee, saandee, raandee. ||1||
ਬਾਣੀਏ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਹੀਂਗੁ ਆਛੈ ਭੈਸਰ ਮਾਥੈ ਸੀਂਗੁ ਗੋ ॥
ਹਟਵਾਣੀਏ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਭਾਵ, ਹੱਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ) ਹਿੰਙ (ਆਦਿਕ ਹੀ ਮਿਲਦੀ) ਹੈ, ਭੈਂਸੇ ਦੇ ਮੱਥੇ ਉੱਤੇ (ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ) ਸਿੰਗ (ਹੀ) ਹਨ,
In the home of the grocer there is asafoetida; on the forehead of the buffalo there are horns.
ਦੇਵਲ ਮਧੇ ਲੀਗੁ ਆਛੈ ਲੀਗੁ ਸੀਗੁ ਹੀਗੁ ਗੋ ॥੨॥
ਅਤੇ ਦੇਵਾਲੇ (ਦੇਵ-ਅਸਥਾਨ) ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿੰਗ (ਹੀ ਗੱਡਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ) ਹੈ । (ਇਹਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ) ਹਿੰਙ, ਸਿੰਗ ਅਤੇ ਲਿੰਗ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹਨ) ।੨।
In the temple of Shiva there are lingams. So here they are: heeng, seeng, leeng. ||2||
ਤੇਲੀ ਕੈ ਘਰ ਤੇਲੁ ਆਛੈ ਜੰਗਲ ਮਧੇ ਬੇਲ ਗੋ ॥
(ਜੇ) ਤੇਲੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ (ਜਾਉ, ਤਾਂ ਉਥੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਬਾਹਰ) ਤੇਲ (ਹੀ ਤੇਲ ਪਿਆ) ਹੈ, ਜੰਗਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੇਲਾਂ (ਹੀ ਵੇਲਾਂ) ਹਨ
In the house of the oil-presser there is oil; in the forest there are vines.
ਮਾਲੀ ਕੇ ਘਰ ਕੇਲ ਆਛੈ ਕੇਲ ਬੇਲ ਤੇਲ ਗੋ ॥੩॥
ਅਤੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਕੇਲਾ (ਹੀ ਲੱਗਾ ਮਿਲਦਾ) ਹੈ । ਇਹਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ ਤੇਲ, ਵੇਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਕੇਲਾ ਹੀ (ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਹਨ) ।੩।
In the gardener's home there are bananas. So here they are: tayl, bayl, kayl. ||3||
ਸੰਤਾਂ ਮਧੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ਆਛੈ ਗੋਕਲ ਮਧੇ ਸਿਆਮ ਗੋ ॥
(ਜਿਵੇਂ) ਗੋਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨ ਜੀ (ਦੀ ਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀ) ਹੈ, (ਤਿਵੇਂ ਇਸ ਖੇਲ ਦਾ ਮਾਲਕ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ।
The Lord of the Universe, Govind, is within His Saints; Krishna, Shyaam, is in Gokal.
ਨਾਮੇ ਮਧੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਆਛੈ ਰਾਮ ਸਿਆਮ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗੋ ॥੪॥੩॥
(ਉਹੀ) ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੇ (ਭੀ) ਅੰਦਰ (ਪ੍ਰਤੱਖ ਵੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ । (ਜਿਹਨੀਂ ਥਾਈਂ, ਭਾਵ, ਸੰਤਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ, ਗੋਕਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਮਦੇਵ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ) ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸ਼ਿਆਮ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਮ ਹੀ (ਗੱਜ ਰਿਹਾ) ਹੈ ।੪।੩।
The Lord, Raam, is in Naam Dayv. So here they are: Raam, Shyaam, Govind. ||4||3||
