ਮਃ ੪ ॥
Fourth Mehl:
ਹੋਦੈ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੋ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਦਰਿ ਢੋਈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਪਰਤੱਖ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਭੀ ਜੋ ਨਿੰਦਕ (ਗੁਰ ਤੋਂ) ਵਿੱਛੜੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਗਾਹ ਵਿਚ ਢੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦੀ
Those who separate themselves from the Guru, in spite of His Constant Presence - they find no place of rest in the Court of the Lord.
ਕੋਈ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਨ ਨਿੰਦਕਾ ਮੁਹ ਫਿਕੇ ਥੁਕ ਥੁਕ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਹੀ ॥
ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਭੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਮੂੰਹ ਫਿੱਕਾ ਤੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਨਿਰੀ ਥੱੁਕ ਪੈਂਦੀ ਹੈ (ਭਾਵ, ਲੋਕ ਮੂੰਹ ਤੇ ਫਿਟਕਾਂ ਪਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ)
If someone goes to meet with those dull-faced slanderers, he will find their faces covered with spit.
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਸੇ ਸਭ ਜਗਤਿ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਨਿਤ ਭੰਭਲ ਭੂਸੇ ਖਾਹੀ ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਿੱਛੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਭੀ ਫਿਟਕਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਡਕੋ-ਡੋਲੇ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ ।
Those who are cursed by the True Guru, are cursed by all the world. They wander around endlessly.
ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਿਆ ਆਪਣਾ ਸੇ ਲੈਦੇ ਢਹਾ ਫਿਰਾਹੀ ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ (ਮਾਨੋ) ਢਾਹਾਂ ਮਾਰਦੇ ਫਿਰਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who do not publicly affirm their Guru wander around, moaning and groaning.
ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਭੁਖ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਭੁਖਾ ਭੁਖ ਕੂਕਾਹੀ ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਤਰਦੀ, ਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਭੁੱਖ ਭੁੱਖ ਕੂਕਦੇ ਹਨ,
Their hunger shall never depart; afflicted by constant hunger, they cry out in pain.
ਓਨਾ ਦਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਕੋ ਨ ਸੁਣੈ ਨਿਤ ਹਉਲੇ ਹਉਲਿ ਮਰਾਹੀ ॥
ਕੋਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਇਤਬਾਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ (ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ) ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਖਪਦੇ ਹਨ
No one hears what they have to say; they live in constant fear and terror, until they finally die.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਨੀ ਓਨਾ ਅਗੈ ਪਿਛੈ ਥਾਉ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਜਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦੇ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਟਿਕਾਣਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ
They cannot bear the glorious greatness of the True Guru, and they find no place of rest, here or hereafter.
ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਿਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲਹਿ ਰਹਦੀ ਖੁਹਦੀ ਸਭ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਹੀ ॥
ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਜੋ ਵਿੱਛੜੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਭੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾੜੀ ਮੋਟੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ
Those who go out to meet with those who have been cursed by the True Guru, lose all remnants of their honor.
ਓਇ ਅਗੈ ਕੁਸਟੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਫਿਟਕੇ ਜਿ ਓਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੁਸਟੁ ਉਠਾਹੀ ॥
(ਕਿਉਂਕਿ) ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਖੁੰਝੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਹੀ ਕੋਹੜੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਅਜੇਹੇ ਮਨੱੁਖ ਦਾ ਸੰਗ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੀ ਕੋਹੜ ਚਮੋੜ ਦੇਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
They have already become like lepers; cursed by the Guru, whoever meets them is also afflicted with leprosy.
ਹਰਿ ਤਿਨ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਨਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਜੋ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਹੀ ॥
(ਹੇ ਸਿੱਖੋ!) ਰੱਬ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਭੀ ਨਾ ਕਰੋ ਜੋ (ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੇ ਪਿਆਰ ਵਿਚ ਚਿਤ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ,
O Lord, I pray that I may not even catch sight of those, who focus their consciousness on the love of duality.
ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਕਿਹੁ ਚਾਰਾ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ (ਭਾਵ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਧਾਰਨ ਲਈ) ਕੋਈ ਉਪਾਵ ਕਾਰਗਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋ ਸਕਦਾ, ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਨੇ ਮੱੁਢ ਤੋਂ ਹੀ (ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਕਰਮਾਂ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਇਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਹੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਵਿਚ) ਲਿਖ ਕੇ ਪਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਹਨ ।
That which the Creator pre-ordained from the very beginning - there can be no escape from that.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਤੂ ਤਿਸੁ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋ ਨ ਸਕਾਹੀ ॥
ਹੇ ਦਾਸ ਨਾਨਕ! ਤੂੰ ਨਾਮ ਜਪ, ਨਾਮ ਜਪਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਬਰਾਬਰੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ,
O servant Nanak, worship and adore the Naam, the Name of the Lord; no one can equal it.
ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵਡੀ ਹੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਵਾਈ ਚੜੈ ਚੜਾਹੀ ॥੨॥
ਨਾਮ ਦੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਵੱਡੀ ਹੈ, ਦਿਨੋ ਦਿਨ ਵਧਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ।੨।
Great is the greatness of His Name; it increases, day by day. ||2||
